“Thanks for a lovely weekend. I had several a-ha moments — although I dislike that term, it fits! Breakthrough could be another word, realization also a good one (Good one!)  My experience spiritually was one of deepening my practice, and I have a better, clearer idea now of what’s possible for my future. I really enjoyed all the artwork and tokens I found around the grounds, and the meals were excellent, as was the free come and go style. The meditation class was equally excellent; I took away new learnings for sure and it really supported a deepening of practice. The songs and drumming were one of my favorite parts and were certainly a a real added benefit to the program! Thanks for leading us in such a unique experience. Hopefully, I can attend another retreat in the near future.”

You’re very welcome and thank you Kerri, and now that summer fades and fall looms, there are several options to share in the practice opportunities and peaceful encounters touched on above. Kerri specifically referenced the insights and empowerment gained during her Noble Silence Meditation Retreat (NSMR) Weekend, with our quarterly Fall NSMR coming up on Yom Kippur weekend, Friday, October 11th — Sunday, October 13th, making it an auspicious time for Atonement. The engine that drives our NSMR’s and much of The Higher Haven’s very special, healing approach to Mindfulness is summarized in our monthly Meditation + Mindfulness 101 class, three-hours of helpful information, meditations, and a chance to visit our natural sanctuary far away from the outer world’s growing din. On the subject of the natural world and growing in both reverence and knowledge, Southwest Michigan’s Mushroom Expert Anthony Michael Blowers (appropriately sounds like Flowers) will head up a Fall Foraging Workshop Saturday, September 14th, taking us into the woods and on a nature walk that will lead into the kitchen with wild snacks and other points on hunting, harvesting and cooking.

September also offers our very cool new foray into Dark Sky Events, evenings observing the night sky, and kicking off with a night of meditation and observation of the partial lunar eclipse occurring on Tuesday, September 17th. This powerful, celestial event will be visible to about half of the earth’s residents, with approximately 3.48 billion people or 43.76% of the world’s population, able to see at least part of the eclipse, the maximum lunar cclipse occurring at 10:44:18 p.m. EST. And we’ll be closing out the month with our Yoga + Meditation Practice Weekend Friday, September 27th — Sunday, September 29th, giving yogis an opportunity to elevate their practice. We’re setting aside the first weekend in October for private lessons and private visits, and are working on a very special Halloween + Dia de Los Muertos fiesta of like-minded, like-hearted souls to gather for our Ten-Year Anniversary at 494 63rd. Street, SH, MI, USA. Simply Contact Us by e-mail with any questions or clarifications, and we’ll look forward to seeing you and practicing soon. Toksha

RE: RENTING THH

We are officially not a For-Rent Retreat Center. The Higher Haven does not host groups, organize meals, or have other teachers we don’t know, whose teachings we’re unfamiliar with, lead our retreats. That said, if you uphold a teaching you’re certain would behoove your students and ours, and wish to host an event, workshop, or weekend at one of the most pristine places around for personal practice, transformation and psychological healing, we encourage you to contact us. We’re open to working with other reputable healers and yoga teachers with whom we feel in energetic accord. Holding an open-hearted, open-minded approach to all people and paths, we invite you to experience one of our classes or retreats rooted in our very special form of mindfulness, by way of ancient ceremonial purification. We’re receptive to and respectful of other ways to wellness, worship, and spiritual work, and so look forward to connecting with you.

I’m a committed yogi practitioner and have dreamt about attending a retreat longer than I’d like to admit. My friend, God Bless her, found a hidden gem in South Haven, Michigan. I had some initial reservations, but once I arrived and scoped out the house and property, I was completely at ease. The home and its surroundings had such a peaceful and mystical energy about it, that I felt safe and comfortable immediately. What I then experienced will be locked in my memory as one of my fondest memories, and on the list of one of the most pivotal moments of my life. I had NO expectations coming in, but when I left, I was a different person.

Now, I feel loved, connected, I want to express love, I appreciate everything and everyone, I forgive those that have wronged me, I feel rooted, strong, focused, grounded, and excited to start my day.  The list goes on and on… I went in needing the noise to quiet the silence and came out needing the silence to quiet the noise. What I received from one weekend; most people will never experience in a lifetime. Thank you, Paul, RoZie and The Higher Haven. I can’t wait to return and continue my practice.” Namaste, Shannon
